Budapest. The new film by Ildikó Enyedi dominated the 45th Hungarian Film Week. Silent Friend was named Best Film of the festival on Sunday evening in Budapest and also received the awards for Best Cinematography and Best Editing. The organizers announced this at the close of the Film Week.

Alongside the top honor, the Producers’ Award also went to Silent Friend: Mónika Mécs was recognized for her work on Enyedi’s film as well as on Jimmy Jaguar by Bence Fliegauf. The cinematography award once again underscored the film’s distinctive visual signature, while the Lifetime Achievement Award went to renowned cinematographer János Kende.

Further prizes were awarded to a new generation of Hungarian filmmakers. Bálint Dániel Sós received the Directing Award for Growing Down, while László Nemes Jeles was honored for Best Screenplay for The Orphan. The Best Actor award for a leading role went to Szabolcs Hajdu for Growing Down. The award for Best Actress in a leading role went to Andrea Waskovics, who impressed in both The Orphan and Growing Down.

The 45th Hungarian Film Week took place in Budapest from 5 to 8 February, drew around 20,000 visitors, and showcased nearly 300 films. The festival thus once again affirmed its role as the central showcase of Hungarian cinema – bridging established auteur voices and emerging talents.
